Course Summary
This training course is for all users to learn how to use PSIM. The course will go through the building and analysis of a buck converter with analog and digital control. This is the first part of a three-part series. The training will guide you on how to build a simulation, it is recommended that you start with a fresh simulation and build the converter along with the videos. A completed example is available for reference.
Course Outline:
Part 1
- Navigate the elements library
- Place and manipulate elements in the schematic
- Define and setup hotkeys
- Use a parameter file to define element attributes
Part 2
- Select the proper timestep
- Use “free run mode” and change element attributes during the simulation
- Define waveform measurements for analysis
- Setup waveform viewer
- Add waveforms
- Add screens
- Save a setup for reuse
- Change the y-axis for timing comparison
- Use the AC sweep element to perform determine the open loop transfer function
- Analog s-domain sweep
Part 3
- Closed loop design with SmartCtrl
- Use a subcircuit to define a portion of the circuit
- AC sweep for digital control
- Close loop with digital control
- Introduction to PSIM thermal models
Prerequisites:
No background knowledge of power electronics is required. This training session is focused specifically on how to use PSIM.
