Designing Composites with HyperWorks

Course Outline:

Fiber composite materials are finding an ever-increasing area of application in industry, especially wherever lightweight construction is required. With the greater use of these materials, the demand for practical calculation and verification methods has also increased. This seminar is geared towards the design of optimal new structures using innovative simulation techniques. In the training, the possibilities of composite simulation (model construction, analysis, optimization and evaluation) offered by Altair HyperWorks are discussed and their application is practiced on the computer using various examples.

Prerequisites:

HyperMesh basic knowledge (for model construction / setting up the optimization)

OptiStruct basic knowledge

Goals and Objectives:

  • Theoretical introduction to fiber composite calculation
  • OptiStruct laminate theory
  • Material models from OptiStruct
  • Model construction
  • Layer structure with HyperMesh
  • Interfaces layer import and layer export from HyperMesh
  • Draping result import interfaces from HyperMesh
  • Analysis
  • OptiStruct failure models
  • Post-processing of the analysis results with HyperView
  • Optimization
